Solutions for EV Charging Inlet
  • Electric vehicle batteries are either charged with AC power fed to an onboard AC-DC charger or high DC power from DC charging stations for fast charging. During the charge cycle, a high current running through the connectors of the charging inlet over a long period may generate high heat, which can be a potential safety hazard to components and users. Also, overheat may affect the charging efficiency. Therefore, monitoring the temperature of connectors is critical for charging safety and charging rate optimization.

  • THINKING developed a series of accurate temperature sensors used in electric vehicle charging inlet. Considering the charging interfaces are exposed to a highly humid or dusty environment, the temperature sensors are designed to resist moisture and corrosions. The temperature sensors built with metal, plastic, and multiple sensor housings measure the temperature of connectors to provide accurate feedback to the charging system, ensuring maximum charge power delivery to the batteries and operation safety.

  • ● Multiple sensor structure: For multiple points temperature detection, there are two multiple sensor structure options available. One is metal sensing tops with high dielectric strength, and the other is with ring terminals for simple and robust screw-on installation.
